The "Don't Miss" Attraction on your Amish Country Vacation in Ohio

Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast near Berlin, Ohio, tells their guests that there is one tourist attraction that they don't want to miss on their Amish Country Vacation in Ohio.  The attraction is Warthers Museum.  This is one of the most hard to describe attractions because if you just tell people that it is a museum with carvings of trains most of them have no interest in going.  "You just have to go" is what Herb & Carol Steffey tell their bed and breakfast guests.  This attraction is on the homestead of Ernest Mooney Warther who was deemed a World Master Carver.   The most amazing part, especially when you tour the museum and see what this man did in his lifetime, is that he only had a 2nd grade education.  This great attraction just got better as of April 1, 2010.  The home where Warther raised his family is on the same property as the museum.  The home has been opened up for tours.  When you purchase a ticket you get to tour the home, his wife's button collection, and the actual museum.  "The first time I toured the museum I was more impressed with the canes that Mooney Warther carved and the stories behind them than I was his trains", said Carol Steffey, owner of Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast.  When you tour the museum you will see things that Warther invented and be mesmerized when you learn that if there were 12,000 pieces in a train that he carved each piece and put the train together without any artificial materials.  The family trade is knife making and at the end of the museum tour you can see the knife factory through a glass viewing gallery.  The knives are a great souvenir and are guaranteed for life.  When you need them sharpened they will do so at no charge and it is a good excuse to tour the museum again!  Some of the bed and breakfast guests remember visiting Warthers many years ago and talk of the pliers that Warther carved.  We don't want to "let the cat out of the bag" so you will just have to go there to see what the pliers are all about.  Don't miss this attraction when you visit Amish Country on your vacation in Ohio this summer.
