Ohio Amish Country Getaway Murder Mystery a Success!

Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast in Ohio Amish Country hosted a luau themed murder mystery getaway to have guests think "warm" in the middle of the coldest season of the year.  Bed and breakfast guests were mailed character names, descriptions and costume suggestions prior to the mystery.  Coming up with a costume to fit the character was a lot of fun for many people.  The middle-aged "swimsuit model" found a shirt/dress that had a painted bikini top and grass skirt for a costume.  Another guest found some flippers and scuba gear to look like a scuba diver.  The guest that played a Hawaiian Chief found a really creative hat while shopping in Ohio Amish Country during the day of the murder mystery.  Another guest practiced his "surfer dude" language to sound like a hip surfer.   The innkeepers chose foods that reminded guests of the Hawaiian islands like Mai Tai cocktails and a shrimp lovers appetizer.  Whether they were the guest that had participated in 15 murder mysteries or the 1st timers they all were comfortable with the format.  Guests had a packet/booklet that told them what clues to reveal and gave them questions to ask of other characters...something simple but fun.  During some murder mysteries at the bed and breakfast no one guesses the "murderer", but during Lethal Luau a few people hit the nail on the head.  To end the evening the innkeepers gave out awards for best actor, best actress and best costume.  Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast does almost 1 murder mystery per month so be sure to check out their website for details and dates.  This bed and breakfast makes the perfect Ohio Amish Country getaway.  To see more pictures of this murder mystery and get more information about the B&B you can check out their Facebook page.

Romantic Getaways in Ohio include Amish Country

Holmes County, Ohio is full of lodging options from hotels to bed and breakfasts to cabins and more.  One of the newest options to open is one of the most romantic getaways in Ohio, Cottages at Garden Gate Get-A-Way.  The cottages were the vision of Herb & Carol Steffey, owners of the award-winning Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast.  "People ask for cabins because of the privacy they offer and yet most cabins are very rustic." said Carol Steffey, "We wanted something elegant, luxurious and romantic!".  Evens the names suggest romance:  Falls Kiss Cottage and Springs Desire Cottage.  The name Falls Kiss Cottage was inspired by Bud Preston, Grammy-nominated, acoustic guitar player from Medina, Ohio.  He wrote a song called, Falls Kiss and the name was perfect for the cottage theme.  Each cottage has a peninsula fireplace that is centered so whether guests are having a light snack at the kitchen counter, lounging in the soft, micro-suede loveseat or chairs, or lying in bed they can see the fireplace!   The Roman-style Jacuzzi easily holds 2 people and has the tall, majestic pillars on each side.  All of the furniture and cabinets are Amish-made and very rich looking.  The mattress on the bed is a pillow-soft mattress for extra comfort along with 600-thread count sheets that feel like satin.  Each cottage has a kitchenette with microwave and mini-refrigerator which are perfect for enjoying a light snack or chilling some wine.  A 23 foot porch faces the field of horses next door and has a privacy shade to offer a more romantic ambiance.  Falls Kiss Cottage is decorated in warm tones with an autumn theme and Springs Desire Cottage is decorated in light, cheerful colors like spring time.  So the next time you are looking for a romantic getaway in Ohio with your sweetheart, don't forget Amish Country or Cottages at Garden Gate Get-A-Way.

Amish Country Ohio Bed and Breakfast Best Value Inn

Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed and Breakfast located in Amish Country of Ohio was named Best Value Inn in the annual bedandbreakfast.com awards for 2009-2010.  This is the 3rd year in a row that they have received such an award.  Based on qualitative and quantitative reviews by bed and breakfast guests this Inn works hard to offer a good value for the money.  It is important to the owners to offer quality linens, 5-star amenities, deluxe mattresses, excellent customer service and homemade breakfasts.  As an added bonus they have a Winter Special at their bed and breakfast on the weekdays to buy a night and receive the 2nd night free.  You cannot beat value like that!  In today's economy when money is tight in many households tourists are not necessarily looking for the cheapest lodging, but they want a good value for their money.  So the next time you are going away over night check out this Amish Country Ohio bed and breakfast named Best Value Inn.
