Ohio Weekend Getaways include Ghost Walks, Moonlight Madness, Carriage Rides & More

If you are looking for Ohio weekend getaways for Halloween, or just because you like haunted places, then be sure to check out Millersburg, Ohio.  On Saturday, October 30th, the 4th annual Ghost Walk will take place.  The walking tour will talk of ghouls, haunted places, and hangings that have taken place in town.  There will be more than one walk to choose from.  One will feature the old jail basement where a tombstone and grave are rumored to be hidden.  The tours will run from 7 p.m.  - 9:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased in advance.  Another place to visit on this evening is the Victorian House Museum.  Ohio's Paranormal Research Group has been there multiple times and has found it to be the most haunted place that they have visited in Northeast Ohio!  At 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. they will give a talk at the Victorian House about their findings.  Historic Downtown Millersburg wants you to have some other kinds of fun so you will find Moonlight Madness sales, carriage rides, kettle korn, apple cider and other refreshments.  Some of these tours/talks have limited tickets so you may want to pre-purchase your tickets before you come.   When you come to town for this event consider staying overnight at a bed and breakfast in Millersburg, Ohio.

Let Our Ohio Amish Country Getaway Teach You About Amish Christmas Traditions

There are a lot of myths as to whether the Amish celebrate Christmas or not.  At one Ohio Amish Country getaway you can take a tour that will explain how the Amish live and how they celebrate Christmas.  Did you ever wonder if there are Christmas trees in Amish homes?  Or if they exchange Christmas gifts?  Or if they bake cookies and holiday treats like us "English" do?  This is your chance to find out.   Your tour will include a special dinner consisting of 7-layer salad, homemade bread, turkey, ham, sweet potato casserole, noodles, dressing, holiday punch and homemade desserts.  This package is offered Thanksgiving weekend and the weekend of December 12, 2010.  While you are visiting Holmes County Amish Country you can take time to visit the bakeries, chocolate factory, cheese factories, and wineries to take home some specialty foods for the holidays.
