Famous Author Visits Ohio Amish Country Getaway

It's not often that you find a famous author at a small Ohio Amish Country getaway, but one author has become a "regular"!  Paul Gaus has written a series of 6 fiction murder mysteries that are set in Holmes County, Ohio and the surrounding area.  He came to Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast in Millersburg, Ohio, this past weekend to have dinner with bed and breakfast guests and talk about his book, Broken English.  While the books are fiction, Paul Gaus includes information about the Amish culture that is quite accurate and very interesting to read.  Bed and breakfast guests had a chance to ask questions about the book which lead to an education about the author and even touched on the Mennonite community.  This is not the first time that Paul Gaus has entertained guests with a talk about his books.  He had dinner in an Amish home and then sat around the evening campfire as part of a weekend package to talk about his book, Separate From the World, last summer.  He also came out to discuss Prayer for the Night.

Blood of the Prodigal is the first book in the series that examines the practice of shunning among the Amish.  Broken English delves in to pacifism and forgiveness in the Amish community.  The 3rd book is Clouds Without Rain takes a look at land values in Amish Country and what happens if they were to fall prey to greed.  Cast a Blue Shadow is the 4th book in the series and examines the issue of child abuse.  The fifth book covers the interesting subject of Rumschpringe, where Amish young adults get a chance to explore the English world and decide if they want to stay Amish.  Separate From the World was the last published book which is a story about genetic disorders that afflict the Amish.

Paul Gaus has another book ready to be released in 2011!  Have you ever heard of an area near Sarasota, Florida that some people refer to as "Whisker-ville"?  Many Amish flock to that area, especially in the winter.  The new book is going to be another murder mystery set in this area of Florida.  Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast will be hosting another "Dinner with an Author" weekend package with Paul Gaus to discuss his newest book.  Each guest will receive a signed copy of the book that he talks about that night.
