Bed and Breakfast near Sugarcreek Ohio suggests 2011 Ohio Swiss Festival

After spending time as a child in Germany, and visiting Switzerland, a bed and breakfast near Sugarcreek, Ohio likes to visit the Ohio Swiss Festival.  Sugarcreek is known as the "Little Switzerland" of Ohio and every fall they hold an annual Swiss Festival.  The 2011 festival will be held September 30 - October 1st.  There will be a Kiddie Parade on Friday and the Grand Parade on Saturday.  There are multiple stages around town to offer musical entertainment.  On Saturday afternoon there they will have those huge, long Swiss Alphorns that will be played as part of the entertainment.  There are some contests that are native to Switzerland such as Steintossen (throwing a 138 pound stone), a yodeling contest, and a Swiss costume contest.  No festival is complete without food and drinks and this festival is no exception.  At the firehouse there is wine and cheese sampling, there are several restaurants in town, plus you will find food vendors.  A Craft Tent will be set up both days and offers hand-crafted items.    Whether you plan a day trip or a weekend getaway there are things for the entire family at the Swiss Festival.

Your Romantic Getaway in Ohio or Honeymoon Should Include Reservations at Table

So you have planned a romantic getaway in Ohio, or a honeymoon, but where do you dine for this special vacation?  Cottages at Garden Gate Get-A-Way suggests that all of their guests have at least one meal at Table Restaurant.  This unbelievable restaurant is located in Millersburg and is the serves the kind of food you would expect to find in a major city.  Kent Welsh, co-owner and chef, has some pretty impressive credentials.  Not only has he launched Ritz Carlton restaurants in Maui, Aspen, Laguna Niguel, Denver, & Washington D.C., helped Wolfgang Puck open restaurants in California, but he has catered Emmy and Grammy Awards and Julia Child's 80th birthday party.  He has also worked at L.A.'s famous La Brea Bakery and wait until you taste what he bakes for you!  The most shocking thing about this wonderful restaurant is the prices.  You would expect this kind of food to cost about $35-$45 an entree but most dinners are $14-$16.  Go with an appetite because you won't want to miss out on his mouth-watering appetizers or delicious desserts.  This restaurant does not have a liquor license but you won't care when you taste Kent's non-alcoholic cocktails.  Depending on the time of year you may find something with Key Lime, Passion Fruit or Cranberry flavors.  The restaurant menu changes quarterly so there is always something new to try!  This cozy restaurant has only 9-10 tables so reservations are highly recommended.  You can contact Table directly or ask your innkeepers to make reservations for you.

Holmes County Ohio Lodging Recommends a Visit to Rolling Ridge Ranch

If you are not sure what to see and do when you go to Amish Country there is one Holmes County, Ohio lodging establishment that can help.  Herb & Carol Steffey, the owners of Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast, make a point of getting to know their area.  Bed and breakfast guests can ask for recommendations on where to eat, shop, learn about the area, etc.  When summer comes, one place they always recommend is Rolling Ridge Ranch.  This is an exotic animal farm with over 500 animals and 100 species from around the world.  There are two ways to explore this attraction: (1) in your own car, or (2) on a horse-drawn wagon.  Herb & Carol suggest the horse-drawn wagon.   This option includes a bucket of animal feed.  The wagon travels a 2 mile path making several stops where the animals approach the wagon to eat right out of your bucket!  The ride is about 1 hour and you will never get closer to the animals than this.  "This is better than any zoo I have ever been to being able to get that close to the animals.", said Carol.  For first hand information about exploring Holmes County, Ohio, be sure to make reservations at Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast.
