Fry Pies are part of Holmes County Ohio Amish Tourist Attractions

If you have ever visited Holmes County, Ohio then you know favorite Amish Tourist Attractions include bakeries that make Fry Pies.  In order to really experience Amish Country you need to try this local treat that starts with a piece of pie crust.  They top 1/2 of the circle with fruit pie filling, fold over the crust and crimp the edges.  Next they deep fry the pie and then glaze it after it has been cooked.  They come in various flavors such as Elderberry, Strawberry, Apple, Peach, Ground Cherry, Raspberry, and more!  In Holmes County, Ohio, some of the favorite places to purchase fry pies are: Millers Amish Bakery near Charm, Hershbergers Farm and Bakery on State Route 557, and Der Dutchman Bakery in Walnut Creek.  Another way to experience a fry pie is to take a back road Amish culture tour when you are a guest at Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast near Berlin, Ohio.  One of the stops on their back road tour is at an Amish bakery where you will have time to shop for these delicious pastries along with cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, cheese tarts, cookies, and more.
