Visit Heini's Cheese in Holmes County Ohio

No visit to Holmes County, Ohio would be complete without a visit to Heini's Cheese in Berlin, also known has Bunker Hill Cheese.  This is one of the few cheese factories in the area that offers tours of the cheese making process.  One of the things that they are best know for is that they have approximatley 50 different of samples of cheese that you can try for free!   You will find some exotic cheeses there in addition to traditional varieties such as green moon cheese and rainbow sherbert cheese.  This business started in the early 1900's with a master cheese maker from Switzerland.  The cheese that is produced at Heini's uses 100% Amish farm milk that contains no artificial growth hormones.  If you drive around the back of the cheese house you will find old-fashioned milk cans which is how the milk is brought in.  Approximatley 250 Amish farms provide milk to Heini's.
