More often than ever bed and breakfast guests are asking where to eat healthy on their Ohio Amish Country getaway. This is the generation of the Dr. Oz television show where we are taught about eating healthier, getting the right vitamins, and avoiding fat and sugar. If you have ever visited Ohio Amish Country you know that you will find lots of bakeries, restaurants that serve fried chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes, and specialty items such as Trail Bologna. These are places you will never hear about on the Dr. Oz Show.
Here are a few pointers for eating healthier:
Rebecca's Bistro in Walnut Creek is open for lunch every day but Sunday. They offer quiche, entree salads, homemade soups, and wraps.
Bags Sports Pub in Millersburg has some awesome entree salads for a leaner lunch.
Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen
It may not be on the regular menu but you can almost always get Terryaki Salmon with broccoli for a side dish.
Bags Sports Pub in Millersburg also has a great Broiled Salmon Dinner, entree salads, and some lighter options on the menu.
Visit Nature's Food Market on US62 in Berlin. This health food store not only carries every kind of vitamin, gluten-free foods, whole grains, etc., but you can purchase some chips and snacks to take back to your guest room that are much healthier than a Fry Pie or Cinnamon Roll.
New Horizons Naturals on SR83 in Millersburg, across from Walmart, is much smaller than Nature's Food Market but they do have some healthy snacks available as well.
Some people want to "splurge" on vacation and worry about the calories when they get back home, but if you want to eat healthier then check out the above options.
