Visit The Wilderness Center for Bird Watching in Ohio

If you are looking for a place to go bird watching in Ohio then be sure to visit The Wilderness Center in Wilmot.  They have 6 different nature trails to hike on plus a wonderful interpretive center.    After a hike you can sit in an area of the center and view the birds outside.  They have microphones so that you can actually hear the bird calls from indoors.  The naturalists on staff are great for giving advice on where to hike and the unusual birds that you may come upon.  Each month there are various hikes with the naturalists to go bird watching or you can venture off on your own.  On December 21, 2012 they are looking for bird watching volunteers to participate in the Christmas bird count.  This event will start at 8 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m.   There is also a gift shop on site to purchase bird seed, bird houses, books, and more.  They are located near Amish Country, Ohio so there are plenty of things to do in the area.
