Bed and Breakfast in Millersburg,Ohio Recommends Lehmans

According to a bed and breakfast in Millersburg, Ohio, just about everyone that comes to Amish Country wants to visit Lehmans.   When the store started in 1955 it was more of a hardware store and it catered to the local Amish providing items that they can use that didn't require electricity.  Today they have a 32,000 square foot store in Kidron, Ohio, that still caters to the Amish but has so much more that tourists love to shop there.  It is an adventure to walk through the store because if you look up and around you will find museum-quality antiques throughout the store.  When it comes to shopping you will find old stove and refrigerator reproductions, wood stoves, kitchen gadgets, one of the largest selections of cookie cutters anywhere, oil lamps, toys, books, pottery, oil lamps, and more!  If you have old oil lamps or even an apple peeler with broken parts you are likely to find replacement parts for them at Lehmans.  One of the most unusual shoppers they have had is Hollywood.  Set designers from Hollywood have purchased items from Lehmans for props in movies such as Broke Back Mountain.  They are located on Kidron Road (CR52) just south of State Route 30 and North of State Route 241.

Amish Country Inn Among B&B's with Free Rooms for Veterans

For the last couple of years a group of Innkeepers associated with the "Better Way to Stay" have donated some, or all, of their guest rooms on Veterans Day to both Active Military and Veterans for free.  It is part of a campaign called B&Bs for Vets.  Our Amish Country Inn is among the participants.  This year we have offered the best rooms in the bed and breakfast as part of this National offer.  As of this writing we still have availability.  All the Veterans have to do is present valid military ID when they check-in and the room is free.  The 2012 date for B&Bs for Vets is Sunday, November 11, 2012.  This gift to Veterans started with one innkeeper in West Virginia and has snow-balled in to a National offer from bed and breakfasts in every State.  For more information on Better Way to Stay visit this link.  (Advanced reservations are required.  Cancel policies may apply a some B&Bs.)

Garden Gate GetAway

Away from all the city rush and noise
is a bed ad breakfast that's a favorite choice

Visit in Spring when the roses bloom or 
in Summer months for the birds sweet tune

The most glorious season is Autumn when all the leaves change
the oranges, golds, and reds let the winds rearrange

University of Georgia Chooses Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast Recipes

Our Ohio bed and breakfast was honored to find out that University of Georgia selected 2 of our recipes to serve to their students some some community guests at a special event on October, 11, 2012.  The event was called "A Sunset Breakfast - Dawn Inspired Dishes Served at Dusk".  The focus was to give students the dining experience of breakfast at Bed and Breakfasts across the USA.  The menu featured 22 recipes including soups, entrees, salads, side dishes, baked goods, meats and beverages.  Two of the recipes from Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast were chosen for this menu:  Fall Harvest Muffins and Country Morning Casserole.  We were the only B&B in Ohio that was chosen for this event.
The University sent a commenorative plate to our bed and breakfast in appreciation of allowing them to share our recipes with students and community guests.  They adapted our recipe in order to serve 8600 that dined that day.
The University of Georgia Food Services is nationally recognized for its creative special event schedule.  Many of their special food events have received National awards.
