Ohio Bed and Breakfast Announces Sunday Concert in February

At our Ohio bed and breakfast we look for Sunday activities for our guests.  In February 2013 there is a music concert you won't want to miss.   The All-Ohio Youth Choir that performs at the Ohio State Fair each year is putting on a concert in Coshocton on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at McKinley Auditorium.  The theme of this Winter Pops Concert is 'Keep the Dream Alive'.  The 200 performers are the "cream of the crop" from all over Ohio and must audition to be accepted in this group.  Charles R. Snyder is the conductor.   If you love music you won't want to miss this concert.

Ohio Weekend Getaways Include Famous People

Looking for some unique Ohio weekend getaways?  In Amish Country, Ohio, you have access to famous people like Jim Brickman, LeAnn Rimes, Bill Cosby, and the Oak Ridge Boys. In the New Philadelphia area is the Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center located on the Kent State University Campus.  They offer venues with theater, music and famous people.  The theater is located just a short ride from the heart of Ohio Amish Country so you have many other things to do in the area from Amish Culture, to wineries, cheese factories, bakeries, gift shops, antiques, etc.  The contemporary performing arts center boasts 50,000 square feet and includes an 1100 seat theater.  It is hard to believe that something so modern is located in the middle of Amish Country.

Ohio Amish Country Getaway Offer New Amish Culture Tour

Our Amish Country Getaway is the first bed and breakfast in Ohio to purchase a tour bus and offer special tours exclusively to B&B guests.   In 2013 there is a brand new tour package called Culture, Customs, and Cuisine.  This weekend package includes a 3 hour tour where guests will learn how the Amish live and why they honor certain customs.  Did you ever wonder why the Amish live in "Church Districts"?  Do you want to know why their education stops at the 8th grade?  Ever wonder if an Amish wedding includes a bridal gown, bands, caterers, etc.?  What takes place at an Amish funeral?  How can a man run a prosperous business without electricity? The tour ends with dinner in a private Amish home for just the bed and breakfast group.  The 2013 tour package schedule starts in February and ends in June.

Bed and Breakfast Inn of Ohio Suggests Valentines with a Kiss

When I was a little girl going to Grandma's house was an exciting thing to do.  One fond memory was Grandma's cookie jar.  One of my favorite cookies were her Peanut Butter Cookies Sealed with a Kiss.  Today I make these cookies at our bed and breakfast Inn of Ohio for our guests.  I thought that Valentines Day would be a perfect time to share a bed and breakfast recipe with "a kiss".
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
Peanut Butter Cookies Sealed with a Kiss
 2/3 c. smooth peanut butter
1/4 c. Crisco butter stick
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 t. vanilla
1.5 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
Sugar for coating
Hershey chocolate kiss candies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In one bowl beat peanut butter, Crisco, and brown sugar until combined.  Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the Vanilla.
Blend the flour and salt in another bowl and then add to the peanut butter mixture.
Shape the dough in 1" balls and roll in sugar to coat lightly.  Place on ungreased cookie sheets about 2" apart.  Bake for 8 minutes and then lightly press and unwrapped kiss into each cookie and bake another 4 minutes until lightly browned.
Yields about 40 small cookies or 30 larger ones.
This Valentines Day share these special kisses with someone special in your life.
