Berlin Ohio Lodging Suggests Half-Stitched Musical in Sugarcreek

Our Berlin, Ohio lodging establishment is always looking for new things our guests can do.  Starting August 22, 2013, a new musical, comedy will be playing in Sugarcreek.  It is called Half-Stitched and it is based on a Wanda Brunstetter book.  The story line is that an Amish widow decides to offer quilting classes.  Some of the most unlikely characters sign up for the classes such as a couple whose marriage is in trouble, a young widower, a biker who is kind of on the rough side, a preacher's wife, and more.  During the quilting classes peoples lives are transformed as their little quilting group becomes somewhat of a support group.  It is recommended to order tickets in advance.  They offer afternoon matinees and evening performances but the schedule varies of what shows are offered on specific dates.

Amish Country Inn Answers: Where Do I See the Amish

Guests at our Amish Country Inn often ask, "Where do I go to see the Amish?"  Our area is home to the world's largest Amish community and there are Amish-owned businesses everywhere.  The Amish also shop in area businesses so they are basically everywhere.  There is one place that the Amish frequent:  Mt. Hope Auction.  Every Wednesday there is a local farm auction where the Amish go to buy livestock, hay, straw, etc.  There is also a produce sale on the property.  Everyone is welcome to look or to shop.  Some locals say to be sure that you don't scratch your nose or you may have just bid on a horse.

See the Highlights on Amish Country Tour

If you want to visit the major tourist attractions/shops in Holmes County, Ohio, then consider this Ohio Amish Country Tour called 'Highlights of Amish Country'.

Visit Heini's Cheese Factory where you can watch cheese making, sample from 50 different kinds of cheese, and shop for bulk foods, fudge, and gifts.  Wendell August Forge only has a couple of locations in the USA and we are lucky enough to have one here in Holmes County.  They forge metal to make coasters, platters, trays, ornaments, jewelry and more.  There are so many different designs that you are sure to find something that suits your taste.  Stock up on bulk foods at Ashery Country Store.  If you are looking for a specific spice and you don't find it at Ashery then you probably won't find it.  If you have seen movies such as Broke Back Mountain then you have seen some items that Lehmans carries because Hollywood set designers have shopped here for props.    They carry old-fashioned housewares, appliances, tools, toys, and garden supplies.  No stop to the area would be complete without a visit to our local chocolate factory, Coblentz Chocolate Company.  Watch chocolate being made and shop for creams, caramels, nuts, truffles, and more.  One unique, tasty treat that they sell is 'Holmes County Road Apples'.  They resemble something that a horse may drop on the road but the ingredients are totally yummy!  No matter what time of year you visit Amish Country you can celebrate Christmas at Tis the Season store.  They are Ohio's largest, year-round Christmas store with three floors of ornaments, lights, trees, collectibles, and more.  So let us do the driving and enjoy for Amish Country Tour.

Sit Around the Campfire at our Amish Country Ohio Bed and Breakfast

You don't have to go camping to sit around a campfire.  Visit our Amish Country Ohio Bed and Breakfast and you can enjoy a campfire every evening (weather permitting).  One of my favorite things about owning Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast is being able to sit around a campfire every night.  We are surrounded by Amish neighbors so quite often we see horse and buggies traveling our road while sitting at the fire ring.  It is also nice to be away from the city lights so that you can really appreciate the stars in the sky after the sun sets.  We host guests from around the world and the four corners of the USA so visiting with our guests is another wonderful thing about our nightly fires.  The next time you are looking for an Ohio bed and breakfast getaway be sure to give us a call.
