Choose a Romantic Bed and Breakfast in Ohio for Sweetest Day 2013

Sweetest Day 2013 falls on Saturday, October 19, 2013.  Choose a romantic bed and breakfast in Ohio to celebrate Sweetest Day with that someone special in your life.  You could even add on some extras like a couple massage, a wine & cheese plate, dinner reservations at a nice restaurant, etc.  This is one of the most popular weekends to travel in Ohio because the Fall colors tend to peak in the middle of October plus the Sweetest Day celebration.
Sweetest Day is something that started in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922.  The idea came to a chocolate company employee to deliver chocolates to the less fortunate.  The idea quickly spread to several chocolatiers who delivered chocolates to nursing homes, orphans, etc.  Over the years husbands and boyfriends would take a box of chocolates and sometimes flowers to their sweetheart.   Today it has ballooned into weekend getaways and larger gifts than just a box of chocolates.
If you visit our Amish Country, Ohio bed and breakfast we can help you find the local chocolate factory, wineries, cheese factories, fine dining, and anything else you may like to celebrate Sweetest Day.

Beware of GPS Maps in Amish Country, Ohio

More and more when guests stay at our Amish Country, Ohio bed and breakfast they are depending on a GPS unit to get them here and to get around the area.  You have to realize that every GPS brand is programmed differently and none of them work 100% perfect when it comes to finding locations.  Our suggestion is that if you feel you must use a GPS also bring along a map and/or local tourist guide and compare the map to what the GPS is telling you to do.

One warning is that most GPS units think that our Township Roads are Township "Highways".  In Holmes County, Ohio we have State Routes (sometimes abbreviated as SR), County Roads (sometimes abbreviated at CR), and Township Roads (sometimes abbreviated as TR).  If you were to put our address, "6041 Township Road 310" in your GPS it would tell you that it cannot find such a location.  But if you were to type in "6041 Township Highway 310" it will most likely find us.  Some GPS units won't let you type out the word, "Highway" but they want you to type in "Hwy".  This is why it is so important to not give up on the old fashioned map method to find places.

True Story:  We sent a guest to our favorite local restaurant for dinner.  We gave them the Map and Visitor Guide from our Chamber of Commerce with the address of the restaurant and even highlighted the route from our B&B location to the restaurant.  The guest ignored our map and put the address in their GPS.  When they got to the intersection where the restaurant was located the GPS unit said "You Are Here".  The guest looked left and then right and didn't see a restaurant.  They turned around and came back to the bed and breakfast.  If they had just looked up in the air they would have seen the restaurant sign about 100 feet in front of them but they depended on the GPS so much that they missed out on a truly good dinner that night.

Remember that your bed and breakfast owners in the Holmes County, Ohio are eager to help you experience Amish Country.  They are more than happy to map out directions to dining, shopping, and attractions if you are willing to let them.  Your innkeeper knows the area a lot better than your GPS does.  We are not suggesting that you give up your GPS but that you only use it as a reference along with maps and local tourist guides.
